Congratulations!

Year 6 were very excited to have a visit from Sam Gyimah, joint Minister for Higher Education at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Department for Education on Friday 19th October. He came to observe a drama lesson depicting The Christmas Day Truce from WW1, which pupils would be writing a poem about.  Their poems were then entered into a competition to be published in a commemorative WW1 book being published.

We are extremely proud to announce that Tiffany's poem has been selected from the hundreds of entries across Surrey Schools, which will be included in the book!  She will be presented with a copy of the book next week at a special reception at the House of Commons!!!  Huge congratulations Tiffany!

School Money

Further to last week’s Stop Press along with the emails sent out to parents this week, we are delighted to announce that our new School Money system is now live! This means that school meals for children must now be ordered using the new system.

Children in KS1 are entitled to universal free school meals under the Government scheme so there will be no charge made on your account for meals ordered.  However you will still need to log into your School Money account and choose the meals from the menu offered.  Meals will need to be pre-booked by midnight the previous day but you can select meals up until the end of term if you wish.

Children in KS2 who pay for their school meal will need to order their school meal as detailed above and make payment at the time of ordering.

A quick link to the School Money website has now been added to bottom of the front page of our website.

Odd Socks Day – Monday 12th November

As part of Anti-Bullying week we will be taking part in “Odd Socks Day” to appreciate individuality and uniqueness. On Monday 12th November the children are invited to wear odd socks to school along with their school uniform. There is no donation required.

Children’s Centre Consultations

Following the decision by Surrey County Council to restructure the delivery of Children’s Centres and services a public consultation document is now available. Parents are strongly encouraged to visit the Children’s Centre  at the Lower School where copies of the consultation will be available and Centre staff will be available to answer queries about the document and assist with any responses to the consultation.

You are warmly invited to visit the centre any Monday, Tuesday or Thursday morning after you have dropped your children at school from now until the end of term.

Penalty Notice Information for Parents

Parents/Carers are duly reminded that if they take their child out of school without the school’s permission for 5 or more days, they will be liable to receive a penalty notice. Currently the amount payable under a penalty notice is £60.00 if paid within 21 days, rising to £120.00 if paid between 21 and 28 days. If the penalty notice remains unpaid after 28 days the Local Authority will consider a prosecution in the Magistrates Court. Please note that penalty notices are issued per parent/carer per child, so if there are 2 parents and 2 children they will receive 4 penalty notices.  Further details are available in our attendance policy.
