High Sheriff’s Visit

On Monday 29th April, the High Sheriff of Surrey, Mr Jim Glover was welcomed to Hamsey Green.  Along with members of the Governing body, two of our local Scout Leaders, Cllr David Cooley and guests; they attended a whole school assembly and were impressed with the children’s impeccable behaviour, attention and questions they asked of the High Sheriff.  Mr Glover then officially opened the new music room and visited the Hub, with many photo opportunities during the morning.

Well done Mrs Davidson!

Mrs Davidson completed the Marathon on Sunday in 5 hours 21 minutes which is absolutely amazing!

Mrs Davidson was running for the charity Samara's Aid who is building a much needed hospital in Syria and has almost reached her target of £2000.  If you would like to, there is still time to donate; please visit:  https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/cressdavidson3

High Ashurst

What a fabulous time the Year 3 and 4 pupils attending the High Ashurst trip had!  Not only did we have beautiful weather but the children surpassed themselves in setting challenges and team building.  After their first trial- making their own beds and a delicious dinner, the children gathered firewood and then sang and entertained each other at the campfire whilst roasting marshmallows!  The day was set with exploring the woods at the crack of dawn followed by a hearty breakfast.  The pupils demonstrated the aspirational and collaborative School Values brilliantly as they ascended the 15m climbing wall and abseiled down, used their imagination to make dens (optimistically hoping they were water prove when they were tested!) and definitely showed resilience in using fire-strikers to light their own fire.  We were so proud of their nurturing of one another, encouraging others and looking out for each other.  A big thank you to the adults who took them overnight and helping the children to form long lasting memories.

BBC Surrey Kids Talk

Next Tuesday, we are very excited that BBC Surrey are coming to Hamsey Green.  Some children will be asked questions to find out what they think on certain topics and shown broadcasting equipment.  We will let you all know when their interview will be broadcast!

2nd Hamsey Green Scout Group

Please click here for a leaflet with information about meeting times and days for our local Scout Group.  There are spaces available in all sections, your child could end up being the next Bear!  They will also be having a fun day, with activities and a BBQ, at their newly refurbished Scout Hut on Saturday 13th July 2-5pm tbc.  Scouting relies on adult volunteers too, if you would like to know more about volunteering with the Scouts, please also use the contact information or go to www.scouts.org.uk.

Taekwondo

Please be aware that due to lack of numbers, we are sorry to announce that Taekwondo will not be running this term.

Bank Holiday

Please remember we are not at school on Monday due to the Bank Holiday.  Have a lovely long weekend!

The Word of the Week was

Upper School           Pernickety – ‘placing too much emphasis on trivial or minor details; fussy’

Lower School           Meadow – ‘a piece of grassland, especially one used for hay’
