Parents Consultations
It was great to see so many of you supporting your child’s/ren’s learning by attending the parent consultations this week, thank you. Thank you to everyone who also took the time to complete the parent survey and the nursery questionnaire, we are grateful for your feedback.
Nursery Questionnaire
We need to establish how many families would be likely to use a Hamsey Green School Nursery service and what their requirements are.
Please complete if you have used nursery provision in the past, currently have children who may benefit from the introduction of a nursery class, or you may have children in the future who may benefit.
If you have not yet had the opportunity to complete one of the surveys, please go to our website, (Home-School Information-Parent Surveys) they are there for you to download; you can also click here for the Parent Survey and here for the Nursery Questionnaire. There is also an online survey based on the parent questionnaire if you have not completed a hard copy of the survey.
Whitgift Primary Concert and Trip to Croydon High
We have been privileged this week to have been able to attend two events. On Wednesday, Year 6 and the Student Council, from Year 2 upwards, attended a concert at the newly refurbished Fairfield Halls, put on by students from Whitgift School. The audience was full of Primary School children in the local area. The children were complimented on their good behaviour and advocacy of our school by members of the public to staff on both journeys; which we are very proud of. We would also like to thank the bus driver who delivered us safely and on time!
At the time of this going to press, eight girls from across Years 5 & 6 will be attending an afternoon of sports at Croydon High School. We look forward to hearing all about their afternoon.
We are extremely pleased with the relationships that we have formed with our local schools to be able to arrange these activities and events for our children to participate in and we thank you for your support in helping us to ensure they are able to attend.
Book Fair
Wow! This has been very popular, we estimate that we have sold £600 worth of books! Thank you for supporting your child’s reading!
School Dinners
We will be having a special ‘Bonfire Day’ lunch on Tuesday 5th November so please remember to book a meal on-line if your child would like to have a lunch on this day. The menu will be Rocket Pork Sausages or Quorn Sausages served with firework mashed potato, banger baked beans and sparkling sweetcorn followed by crackling chocolate cracknell.
Year 4 Roman Day
Thursday 21st November will be Roman Day for our Year 4 pupils. Children can wear any costume from that era, a letter will be sent out with more information in due course.
Sports Results (away) St Johns
Football - lost 2-1
Netball - lost 14-0
Despite the scores, they all showed amazing team spirit and were gracious opponents.
Vacancy
We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Assistant. Please see our website for further details and information how to apply.
Half term activities at East Surrey Museum
East Surrey Museum will be holding children's half-term activity days on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st October, 10.30am - 4.00pm. As half-term is just before Remembrance Day, our main activity this time is to make a 'poppy' wreath from paper and card materials. All materials supplied. Suitable for primary school age children with accompanying adults. The museum will be open as usual and there will also be a 'museum trail' that the children can follow.
Please click here for further details.
Bad Weather
In the event of bad weather that means the school will be closed there will be a message on the school phone by 7:00am. A message will also be displayed on our website.
The Word of the Week was
Infants - scurried “Moving quickly with short, sharp steps”
Juniors - divergent “Two lines that go different”
Riddle of the Week for pupils (last answer: all of them!)
Three men were in a boat; it capsized, but only two got their hair wet. Why?
