PE develops our children’s physical skills, abilities and general confidence in a wide range of activities. It develops children’s knowledge of the body in action and promotes a positive attitude towards a fit, active and healthy lifestyle. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities help children to understand more about themselves and their capabilities. We follow PE Planning to ensure the children are exposed to a variety of sports as well as ensuring a progression of developing skills.
We recognise the importance and impact of high-quality PE and school sport and the positive values of sport are integrated into the whole school ethos. Sport at Hamsey fosters positive relationships within their house teams, class PE sessions and enables our children to experience competition in a range of contexts. Not only are we on a mission to get our children more active by developing the fundamental physical skills that are so often overlooked, our PE lessons are centred around the child to enable them to be successful in the classroom and in later life. Our outdoor, multi-climbing trim trail is also very popular in developing strength and agility!
We are lucky to be able to swim at Warlingham Sixth form and Secondary School's pool, which is based on the shared campus. Children in Upper Key Stage 2 swim weekly.
Through developing a love of sport, the staff at Hamsey Green Primary offer a wide range of after school sports clubs for children, in addition to their weekly PE and swimming lessons, allowing children to further practise and develop their sport and feel part of a team. Weekly competitions allow children to represent the school and their achievements are celebrated within the school and with parents and carers.
